The Lost Smile is originally a university project, the project was taken on taken on during the final year of my BA (Hons) in Commercial Photography in 2018. The project was originally scanned in and transformed into colour having taken inspiration from artist John Hinde. The purpose was to create an uncanny valley sort of effect in the project - you can briefly see examples of these painted coloured versions on my Instagram page, but I might possibly share all of them here too one day.
Both projects are documentary based, using the influence of lost memories and childhood happiness which occurs at theme parks, neighbourhood parks and seaside resorts. The images are shot from a child’s perspective to reflect on the child’s point of view and mood of the images.
The Lost Smile was published in the 38th edition of Art Reveal Magazine 2018 - and exhibited at TOON in Amsterdam as part of the Nostalgia exhibit curated by ArtNumber23 from 11th - 15th May, 2018.
